We will be playing the '92 variation of the Central Standard Rules, for simplicity's sake, with all extras discarded, and knib discounted.
I shall open, rather nicely i feel, with Rayners lane, and leave the rest to you.
Maps can be found about the place.

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:07 AMWell because it was Sunday yesterday you will know that the short rules only apply and I would suggest that early closing is enforced.
Therefore, my only logical choice would be Ealing Broadway (District Line platform). -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:08 AMCunning, but foolish, given the number of public holidays this month, to call early closing.
East Ham. -

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:15 AMMost interesting. You leav me no choice but to play the Heathrow Terminal 4 move. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:33 AMHow dare you. This was meant to be a friendly game!
there might even be children trying to learn. I have no choice but to allow it, though -- but i want my protest as to the base underhand nature of the move noted.
As one good turn deserves another, i shall take a leaf out th the late master Willy Rushton's book, and play Tottenham Hale. -

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:41 AMAh OK, well if we're playing friendly then I apologise and make the simple jump to Royal Oak.
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:43 AMI think after a cunning ploy like that I'll have to go Cambridge Road! -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 7:46 AMMuch better.
I shall use those lovely diagonals you just opened up for me to sidle up to chalk farm. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:11 AMSurely not under the '92 condensed CSRs?
Especially not with Heathrow having been brought into play so early. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:21 AMOf course it's allowed, it was played on a Monday, and EVERYONE know that Fulham is allowed, as long as it's before 4.15pm
Rotherhithe

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game

-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:35 AMI'm afraid i shall have to sink to Mike's level from earlier and use a Trans-northern escape, in this instance to Swallow Passage. -
-

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:41 AMI'd like to point out to listeners on FM that tonight at 6.30 an episode is being broadcast.
In the meantime, I hear Susan has been rummaging around downstairs with the old archivist, and was delighted when he pulled out a 7" in perfect condition. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:45 AMAs you say WTFH. It was in perfect condition needing only some spit and polish to bring it up like new.

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:41 AMThat's going to take a bit of remedying.

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 8:53 AMThat move was only introduced in the famous Brooke-Taylor vs Garden grudge match in November 1992, a full 3 hours after the abridged 2nd revised CSR rules had been signed off. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:00 AMI bow to your superior knowledge, but do feel, particularly as this is an introductory 'Game' that you could have turned a blind eye to that minor Faux-Pas!
Shooters Hill? -

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:07 AMYes Shooters Hill would be an acceptable move in these circumstances.
Using a Burberry enthusiast derivative, combined with a pyramidic line convergance I make the huge leap to Beckenham Road on the Croydon Tramlink.
Note: Dykstras New Chav Scum variation of early 2004 permits the one time use of Tramlink stations if the Burberry enthusiast derivative is played. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:10 AMThat one has always bothered me.
I'm not sure on this one, and it is a bit of a risk, but I'd like to go to Walthamstow Central. -
-
Unsu...
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:12 AMI believe Walthamstow Central would be acceptable provided you surrender your red rover pass. This will prevent you from playing reverse-cyclic manouvers for the next 6 turns though.
Your call. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:22 AMI didn't even have my red rover pass with me. I will, however, avoid the Central line for the previous 3 moves.
-
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:14 AMClearly I am up against masters of the game, so I'm going to hedge my bets and play Westminster Bridge -
-

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:28 AMSIr, I congratulate you, avoiding the Central line for the previous 3 moves was an ingenious counter to the red rover clause.
I play Chalk Farm. -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:34 AMOld Kent Road
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:35 AMThank you for those kind words. It has taken years to perfect that.
In the game between W. Rushton and Andre Previn, I believe, but you can correct me if I'm wrong, that the Chalk Farm move can only be countered by one, deadly transverse diagonal, which must be played after the Central line has been declared free of leaves.

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Mon, December 6, 2004 - 9:53 AMThat was a tricky one.

Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Tue, June 19, 2007 - 8:34 AMGiven the pause between replies I will take the chance to play my trump card - Regent's Park (which has just re-opened). -
-
Re: Mornington Crescent -- an introductory game
Tue, June 19, 2007 - 11:54 AMI think the above game came off the rails so we need to start afresh. I'm feeling adventurous tonight so... Maida Vale.
Incidently did anyone catch Sunday's episode were the MC computer fell in love with Stephen Fry?
